Exactly what the title says. I want to keep my danscos safe, should I use 2.5 or 1 gallon bags? I assume 1 gallon, but want to be sure.

My Danscos won't fit in the one gallon size, so I use the two gallon size. I do use the Dansco slipcovers, however.

I've got the Jefferson nickels w/proofs, Ike w/proofs, and Roosevelt dimes w/proofs and they all fit fine in the 1 gallon bags. One per bag obviously. Not sure if all the Dansco's are the same height and width? The only thing I needed the 2 gallon bags for is for NGC storage boxes. You can fit 2 boxes in each of the 2 gallon bags.

I just 1 gallon freezer bags with the zip slider. All my danscos fit in the 1 gallon, but I do not use the slip cover.

Quote: All my danscos fit in the 1 gallon, but I do not use the slip cover. That's a good point. I also don't use the slip cases. While I think it would still fit; I can see where that might make the difference and make them slightly too big for the 1G size.

And I recommend removing as much air as you can. John1

I can tell you that the 7070 (Type) and 7100 (Lincoln) will not fit in the one gallon bags if you use the slip covers. I tried. My 7125 ( Roosevelt dime) album might although I haven't tried since I bought a box of the two gallon ones anyway. There are different thicknesses between different Dansco albums.

They should fit into a 1 gallon bag. I ONLY use Hefty brand bags, as they are made of polyethylene, which I verified from the company. I also put in each bag a desiccant. For large 3 ring albums I use the 2 1/2 gallon Hefty bags, with 56 grams of pure silica gel beads. I live near the ocean. My coins show no damage and remain pristine, they are in 2x2s in 3 ring binders, each in a Jumbo Hefty zip locked bag, with desiccant.

That's how it's done GSDykes! The only addition you might consider is a sacrificial copper cent with the desiccant.

Agreed, I do have shiney coppers with desiccants in with my copper cent collections! Thanks for reminding me. They attract chemicals other than H2O, like sulphur oxides and chlorides! Important, especially for copper coins. They act as sponges.

BadThad, when you say "The only addition you might consider is a sacrificial copper cent with the desiccant." please explain more about how/why to do this? Thanks!
