1980-D W/ S Shadow Above Mintmark?

Hello,

I have heard about this error but haven't seen any pictures or read much about it. Check out this find in one of my rolls and tell me if you see what I see. You have to look hard. You can see the shadow of it faintly. IN the second picture you will see an S I have put on the picture to help you identify the positioning of the S below it.

All I see is what appears to be earwax in the "8"

This is not the one. The S, even if it was an S would be going in the wrong direction.

First off, it never was an 'error' - it was supposed to be a die variety, a D/S.

Second, it was disproven over a year ago - it doesn't exist. It was die damage.

Third, if your black outline of an S in the right picture traces the shape you see, it's way too small for a mintmark.
