Machine doubling. Because these devices are incuse, they actually enlarge the devices if MD effects them. On a doubled die, the incuse devices will be thinner.

When you looks at many examples of the ATB Quarters, you will realize how common the Machine Doubling is on them.

My experience with doubling is minimal. I get the majority of my learning through posts in this site.
