Small date, based on the bottom picture. Just get several together and you should be able to distinguish them.

Someday is today. The various varieties/MM for this date vary in availability location-to-location. But most are readily available, so keep your eye out for nice specimens.
Good luck!

Cu Lg: 100's Cu Sm: <50 Zn Lg: 100's Zn Sm: 100's Cu Lg D: >50 Zn Lg D: 1 Zn Sm D: 2

Yes, small date. I always look at the eight and if it looks like a snowman, then it is a small date.

Another way to tell is the distance between the base of the 2 and the rim. Check out the small date picture that Coop posted. You could fit the base of another 2 in there between the 2 and the rim. Look at the large date picture, there is no way you could even come close to fitting the base of another 2 in there.

Yes...the snowman 8. For me the upper circle of the 8 is the easiest way, the upper circle is much smaller that the bottom circle of the 8. So, Mr. Contois, you found only a few of the Zn large date D 1982s,? interesting.

GSDykes, yes, I've only found a handful (5) each of 82d zn lg dt and 82d zn sm dt, compared to ~60 82d cu lg dt. As for philly, I've found ~550zn lg dt, ~180zn sm dt, and ~330 cu lg dt, ~40 cu sm dt.
