Note the crude edge. Any notes on this piece ... A Modern Type 4 or later Type 3. No XRF. From the Richard August Collection who believes it may be a period piece with the regals or slightly later (Class 1).
Clem Schettino the noted English Halfpence/Farthing expert did write to me and the other chat room and said:
Hey All, Pickings have been really slim around here for a long time. I did come up with this recently but know little about it. Dick August believes he has the variety but hadn't seen another until I showed him this. Seems to be overstruck on another coin with edge filed to get it down to proper weight of 13.4. It also seems some edge letting is still visible but I can't be sure. Notice the slightly raised rims and weakness of some lettering around periphery. Does anyone else have or seen one? Any comments? Thanks, Clem
