I have also collected a number of coins from those years that the 'doubling' at the back of the knee and on the rump. They occur in every year from 1999 onwards and I have (if I recall properly) one from 1992. I call them BOKBOKs (back of knee, back of keister)

Love it . I have also noticed on these BOKBOK's, that on a number of them, also shows doubling right along the underside of the birds belly to the tip of the birds lower beak.

Maybe it's on the up again. I just did my first sort this evening of $400 of 50˘ -reverses only; varieties and years later.

Very 'skewed' result;
  • many less of the really commons -Commonwealth games, weary Dunlop etc.
  • 16 (+2) Centenary of Federation; seven different but neither of the ones I really am looking for. Twice my previous best.
  • 5 Royal visits (+2)
  • Only one each Cook and tall ships and not one ram's head -again
  • 3 Royal wedding (+1)
  • Only 7 silver jubilee.
  • and 4 early years (normal coins - I put these aside if they catch my eye) in superlative condition.

All in all, a good day. Numbers in brackets are the ones Mrs jeff brought home from the till.

I got bored and did $100 worth of 20c:

2004 Big Head - 2 (Never seen the big head until today! :) )
1995 UN - 1
2005 Bradman - 2
2001 CoF NSW - 1
2001 CoF ACT - 1
2001 CoF WA - 1
2001 CoF Tas - 1
2003 Volunteers - 3
2005 Coming Home - 9

Also picked out 2x 2006 and 2x 2007 UNC and 3x 1971's in decent condition...

There were about 25 1966's, but NONE were wavy! ;)

Zaggy,
The 1999 large obverse means that the lettering is closer to the rim that the 'smaller' obverse. When checking the 1999's put the all together obverse side up and go through them. You'll come across them about 1 in 20-30.

Once you've seen one, they are easy to spot.

Cheers Yass... Will Note that and keep an eye out next time I do 10c's... ;)

As for todays look thru $50/20c:
2004 Big Head - 2 More! :)
2003 Volunteers - 2, one of them in UNC from change at Officeworks!
2001 CoF Vic - 1 in aUNC!
2005 Coming Home - Another 6

I did strike a bunch of very high quality late 1990's coins in aUNC as well. Also got about 20 1966's today too, but as normal, no Wavy; its early days yet!

But yeah, not the same variety today as with yesterday, but I shall keep perservering til I get bored; then move onto 50c's for a while! :)

Another $100/20c. It was a bit less exciting today, worse luck. About 4 or 5 Bags had NOTHING to pull out!

2007 Coing Home - 5 (2 in very good condition)
2003 Volunters - 2 (1 in UNC)
2001 CoF SA - 1

And now the more interesting stuff:

1990 Proof in pretty decent condition, considering its come from circulation
1994 20c with a large V stamped on the obverse (The right stroke of the V underlines the date - its definately post-strike before anyone asks)

And the last one I'm not sure about, but having looked at a LOT of 1967 20c now, I can say this one is DIFFERENT, even considering the excellent condition it is in; I think it too (like the 1990) is probably out of a proof set (different depth of Rim, more like the 1990 & 1991 Proofs; different style of Font to other 1967's, etc).

And that was my day.

Maybe next week, I'll do 50c.

67 Proof 20c that would be unique, sorry to be bearer of bad news,no proof sets done in 1967 or 68......

Can you do a pic, Zaggy.
My 2 latest finds are 1999 10c with the feather Cud, and a 2001 Normal 20c with a small Cud on the L in Elizabeth.
