That or maybe 006. Clearer pictures will help dial in. As cwb suggests, go to Coppercoins to dial in on markers/devices. Good luck and congrats!

So it is definitely a doubled die? So my next question is how rare (or maybe how common) is it to come across one of the lesser '72 DD's when roll searching?

The guestimate by the heavy weight CRH experts for finding a rare(ish) find is around 1/50,000 (i.e. 1 nice DD in about 20 boxes). That seems to be a reasonable estimate based on their years searching and millions of cents searched. This is a fun find, but probably not rare enough to merit that label. It's still a fun find!
Good luck on the hunt!!

If it were in better condition, it would be worth maybe four or five bucks. That's pretty good for a penny. If you can find this one, you can find a rare one.

Well after checking my die markers. This is NOT DDO #3, but the more scarce variety DDO #006! Which makes sense since the lack of doubling on "LIBERTY" was troubling me.....perhaps this one would encroach a bit closer to the making the merits of a "rare" label?

Better images would be a great help. Hard to tell right now.
