Well I found one of the Austrailian Kookaburras with the U.S. Flag but.....it is still in the set with BOTH gold coins which are also tributes to Liberty Bell as well. Going to watch the auction and hopefully get the buy of my life within the last few minutes. What a set that is!!!

The three coin set you are refering to Terry has a hefty issue price of AUD$1,650. Besides the three coin set, there is also a two coin set, the Kooka boxed together with a half ounce Tribute to Liberty Bell gold nugget, issue price for the two coin set was AUD$650.00. The half ounce and 1 ounce nuggets with the Liberty Bell privy is only available through the purchase of one of the sets. Best of luck in the auction...have my fingers crossed for you....

Check this out And this one This one as well Good Buy Predecimals can be pricey especially in the better grades. As was replied to in another thread, Australia is a "young" nation where we did not mint our own coinage until 1852 (Adelaide Pound- one in just VF grade will set you back $80K). Earlier than this is the 1813 Holey dollar and dump. Back in 1812 Governor Lachlan McQuarie took hold of 40,000 Spanish dollars to solve a shortage of money problem and punched the centre out of the coins creating the Colonial Holey Dollar and Dump. Less than 300 of the Holey dollars are now known to exist and are sold at auctions at $100,000+++ Prior to this, as a British colony, we were using a fair bit of British coins and whatever was around that was acceptable to traders. If you are looking for nice commemoratives, here are 4 predecimal commemorative Florins. 1927 Parliament 1934/35 Melbourne Centenary Florin 1951 Federation House 1954 Royal Visit Florin Cheers.....Lim

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!
WAY TOOOOO EXPENSIVE FOR MY BUDGET!!!
How about the silver?
The only reason I don't have that many coins from 'Out There' is therem are only a few dealers who are OVERPRICED. I find it difficult to get them online :( :(

Hi thekidcollector....read from one of your posts here that you are from India. It might interest you to know a fair bit of Indian coins were used here in the colonial days. The ones sought by collectors are the gold MOHUR from the Bengal Presidency (1793), the Star Pagoda (round about 1790), and the Sicca Ruppee (silver). I could not get any of these from Australia for my collection but managed to buy them from India.
If you have any of them, you could claim you have an early colonial coin that may have circulated in Australia...[:p]

Sold for $799.99 (AUD$1,091.09)a good buy when you take into account the melt down value of the two gold coins... Are you the succesful bidder

No but I tried. But, I now have a set of 1992 MASTERPIECES in SILVER headed my way as I took some of your advice and bought a set using the Buy It Now option from an Aussie dealer. I can't wait to see that set of coins IN MY HANDS!!! Of course, at this time, I am still high bidder on the other set so in the event I should get those as well I guess I will have to tell my wife it was a 2 for 1 special or something! Now if I can just locate one of those 2002 Kookaburras with the U.S. flag without the gold coins I will be one happy collector of Australian coins. Well, the set of Australian Birds is really desirable but those will have to wait a tad bit. Thanks for your help lim118. Coin poor and proud of it!!!

Given the extravagant tastes/pursuits of our bungling PM and his cahoots, we need all the help we can get before we turn into a banana republic..... Subject to the agreement of Gary, you have certainly earned the title of AOD ( Ambassador Of the Darkside) as well....[:p]
