What is the likely chances of getting a counterfeit aussie coin? In recent years, cheap coins such as Malaysian 1 ringgit and China 1 yuan had been hit with counterfeited coins, but rarely do you hear counterfeited Aussie coins.

Just yesterday I got a 1997 2 dollar counterfeited coin. While looking at it far apart, it could possibly pass off without much problems. It even passed the weight test horrifyingly, as it weighs 6.5-6.6grams which weights about the same as a typical 2 dollar coin. The only noticable difference is the thickness, diameter and edge reeding. In fact, I just tested it out with several people and dumped this coin together with a lot of other 2 dollar coins. While it took some time, I cannot be more "horrified" with this.

Pictures will up soon when I get the time. Maybe you should check your pocket for a counterfeit 1997 2 dollar coin...

I have yet to see one of the counterfeit $2.00 coins even though they are around. I have a couple of counterfeit Florins, but they are very easy to spot the difference.
