I recently picked up a bunch of low ball Morgans for really cheap. Some true P1's, but mostly Non gradable (below P1) and FR02's.

This being one of the ungradeable Morgans, I was looking at it and noticed something off. The Lips appears to be that of the 1888-O Hot lips VAM. Typically this variety is clearly identified but this coin is slick as it gets. When I compare the lips to all others, its clear something is much different. It has a new Orleans mint mark on the reverse.

What do you guys think?

There is almost no chance of correctly attributing a morgan with this much wear.

I agree with cascade. And with all those gouges, well, let's say it would be a details coin.

I disagree, Coins even at P1 without a date can be attributed by PUPS. These pics are not the greatest and yea the coin is beat up though. Specifically the 4th picture from the top, the lips are spot on to the hot lips variety, but who knows.

For the Hot Lips, I would do a side-by-side photo comparison, or if computer gifted, an overlay.
Also look for markings inside the ear, and between the eagle's leg and tail. You aren't skinned yet.
