I was expecting more bids actually. Got it yesterday. Much more decent in hand. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Circulated-...98120739?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html%3F_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=361398120739&_rdc=1&nma=true&si=2po5sRD0GEFeb3C0FmoJNgHm9jA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 swcoin.ecrater.com

Great pick-up at that price! I rarely see these at shows any more, not counting the really big shows, of course. The last one I spotted at a regional show, I bought. There's a lot of meat still left on your piece, VT.

Very nice! still good detail left on that landscape and the surfaces are not overtly rough, as is often the case. (I have paid a lot more for VT Landscape coins with less detail).

Nice, the landscape coppers are among my favorite colonials!

I think what scared other bidders away was that it's circulated. Everyone else must be holding out for an uncirculated one.

PCGS has only graded 3 at MS. Even XF level examples are 4-5K. I'll flip this one eventually.

That is a "common" landscape variety, not that landscapes are that common. I suspect it went cheap for a couple of reasons. The first being an ebay true auction with a poor title. The second being the surfaces look like someone took sandpaper to them. The third being that if the basis of comparison are fixed prices, I suspect that the low grade examples of these (AG or less) have highly inflated prices. Quick search on Heritage shows a NGC AG3 sold for $123 last year. Looking at that coin, I honestly think your $71 was a fair price. I strongly suspect that any collector wanting an affordable example of this variety would pony up $123 for VT's piece, what with its fully readable date and then some.

The Ryder 6 is the most common. Even one with details like this is worth $71 all day long. I've seen much worst examples go for more. I just search key words, put what I'm gonna put, and let it ride. I got lucky on this one.
