This coin has been on my want list for a while, and I recently traded this for a 20-for-20. It's got some really nice circulation cameo going on especially on the reverse, but as usual I can't get that on photo, the photo's too light. Think milk chocolate on top of dark chocolate.

It's got "NS5AI" written on the flip. What does that refer to?

Nice one! Gotta love the obverse portrait on these.
NS-5A1 is the Charlton catalogue # for this token. More traditionally it is Breton # 876.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Very cool, I love the tokens :). My favorite's being the Dragon Slayers and the Spread Eagles from 1813-1815.

The illustrations in Breton's book are all done by hand

Its funny that you posted this. I was just looking at my half penny N.S. token last night. I picked it up about a year ago in a collection and set it aside because it looked "cleaned" and marked it worthless in my mind. It looks like some one polished it with brasso or some other solvent. However, I decided to look it up last night and discovered that in fact they did make a few brass ones. NS-5A2. Could it be? I'm bringing it to the nuphlex show to let some of the pros look at it. But for now, here it is.
