Well, it's that time of year again! I recently acquired these Ike SKULL dollars from master coin carver, John Hughey. He's a super nice guy, and his skills are highly impressive. His work is simply exquisite. These are among my favorite Ike dollars now for sure. I love 'em!

I like them. Not a huge fan of modified coins but it's still pretty cool

Great looking coins.

I think if they were mine, I would have basement slabbed them as PMD-70 or maybe the rare Hobo70.

ebay usually has a very large listing of carved coins, and skulls are pretty common. There is a facebook group for the Original Hobo Nickel Society (OHNS), that is frequented by most of the modern carvers where you can find out who is selling what and for how much, and you can often commission carvings from the various carvers.

Very cool. That'd be a fun one to put in a blank Dansco hole.

I like this... they sort of have a 'hobo nickel' appeal to them...

Pretty cool Ike!
This page shows several carved Lincoln cents: http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/C...20Cents.html
I think people collect them the way some people collect wooden nickels. They aren't mint made but they are still collectable.
