I recently bought a $25 dollar box of Bank Rolled Wheats for 8 cents a wheat. I'm hoping to find some errors or varieties in this. I justified the purchase on how well I did on my 2 bags of Eisenhower's I ordered recently. Just wanted to get your opinions.... Looking forward to the Negative Comments from some of you You know who you are and shortly everyone reading this thread will as well Purpose of this Post? Bored at work and wanted to read opinions....

We shall see? You may be right.
I will update this Thread with everything I find when I've gotten a chance to go through them. I should be receiving them by Wednesday of this week. So it might be later this weekend for me to post the finds (or lack of).

I have bought two bags of wheats from my LCS for 8 cents a wheat. There were a couple of hole fillers but, fun in looking and checking.

I've been in Numismatics well over 40 years, and changed what I collected at least four times since settling on errors in the mid 1990's and never looked back.. My belief is you purchase what you like, and if you're in it for the long haul, your interest will change... When it does (as mine did a few times), I found it easier to sell the existing collection in one Lot, regardless of loss, and start on Phase #2 asap. I never asked another person what I should buy, but then again this was long before any of us oldtimers would learn of a Internet in our future... The Internet may be great for the young collectors, but I wouldn't trade all the years of self-taught knowledge (that seems to stay with you for life) and Google a question for answers unless I was seeking Confirmation on a topic of interest I've been working on... I do admit I reached out to forum members on VAMS & information on Ancient error coins... (I do own about 100 lbs of Numismatic. Books & Magazines that are obsolete) With all of the above said, just enjoy yourself...

I bought a 200 bag of wheats recently at LCS and they were all 40's and 50's S mints. I was happy when I was pulling out all of the S mints, but disappointed on variety. I still need to go through them better to see if there is anything good I missed on initial glance. Good luck! I guess it depends where you got them from.. Was it a copper hoarder that just threw all wheats aside or a dealer who gets so many wheats that they don't have time to look?

I have about 10lbs of Wheat/IH Pennies. I have no idea what is in there, other than the oldest is a IHP, I believe a 1904. I use a Ryedale. I figure one day I will take a look when I decide I have enough.

I don't understand. The bank seperated these wheats and rolled them, and then sold them?
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

@Kefiroth I never said they were unsearched. But I don't agree with your blanket statement that there is no such thing as an unsearched lot. I'm sure somewhere out there, there is one

In my garage I have over 1000 rolls of pennies. There's a good chane maybe one of those rolls hasn't been searched. Course none of mine are as distinct as the wheaties. 8 cents each sounds a bit pricey but you should have some fun! I know I have spent $16 in far worse ways
