I noticed a dime I had that was almost copper colored. I just don't know what to make of it. I took a picture of it next to a normal colored Roosevelt dime. I've just never seen this before, any ideas? Thank you!

It looks a bit reddish. I see this a lot with nickels when Coin roll hunting . Looks to be some sort of toning not missing clad layer. Take a look at your rim can you see the 2 layers?

You can see the clad layer coming through. Some sort of artificial toning/psd that colored it.

I'm at work I don't have the coin with me. From what I remember when examining it, I could see the 2 clad layers when looking at the side of it, it had the ridges too. That's why I was sorta baffled at the color.

Yes so the fact you can see it tells you some sort of toning . Weather artificial or not it didn't help the value. Still I have kept some coins I know where not natural just cause I liked the look.

Okay thanks. I'll add it to my collection since it looks cool
I'm a total amateur at this, I just always keep my eye out for unusual looking coins and this definitely jumped out at me. It's a been a neat week for coins for me, the other day I also found a 1943 Washington quarter, I never seem to find the silver ones in circulation for obvious reasons :-)
