I recently discovered a small stash of money in an old suitcase I used years ago. The following bills were inside:
1 $100.00 B3, Series 1988
4X $ 50.00 2@ Series 1985, 1@ 1988, 1 @ 1990
3X $ 20.00 1@ Series 1985, 1@ Series 1988 and 1@ Series1993
4X $ 10.00 2@ Series 1985, 2@ Series 1988
33X $ 5.00 All in sequence (Series 1988) A few missing from the original pack of 50)

Could someone advise as to their current value. I tried to exchange them in Brazil for Brazilian Reals and they refused them for being too old. I'll be in the US in 2 weeks.

The condition of them is obviously important... are they perfect or used noted?

Also whats the first and last serial number for the $5s? Do any of the notes have stars next to the serial number?

These things would be important clues for determining values...

The Fives are:02658341to 02658390 with (7) missing. There are no stars next to the numbers.

So let me get this right - you basically forgot about more than $500 in cash?

Maybe you should check your other suitcases whil you're at it!

The uncirculated notes might bring a few dollars over face value on ebay. You can also drop in to a couple of coin shops and see what they offer you for them. Look up values In a recent edition of the Oakes/Schwartz Small Size Currency Guide book before you part with any of them. Good luck!

Unfortunately, due to inflation, you have lost money, not gained money.

A potential pitfall of collecting money in general (or letting it sit under your mattress). If they're in good shape you could make a few bucks per note on ebay.
