Do not know the variety, however, the way the obverse devices are drawn to the edge makes me believe it is Die Deterioration Doubling......?

Wow ken. That almost has the melting letter appearance of a double strike from the vlds. I like it

This is one of several found in a roll by a NY collector. I know of another VLDS found in a roll of the so-called Poor Man's Double Die cents (for those that are new the PMDD is a catchy nickname applied to Die Deterioration Doubling on 1955 cents by dealers to sell them as space-fillers for the real 1955/55 Die-1).

In a roll of tubed BU cents of 1955 I found 19 examples in a roll. There was a mixture of different dies that showed this extreme die wear. Not to be confused as a doubled die.

D/D indicates a RPM. If it is a doubled die (which the OP's coin is not) then the correct term would be DDO (Doubled Die Obverse) or DDR. (Doubled Die Reverse)

Here is a Side by side of die wear towards the rim, and the DDO with the rotation of the hubbing showing. Hope this helps.
