Probably fake/altered as I don't believe any D wheats were made in 1910. Also, welcome to the forum!

Altered 1940-D would be my guess.

Well, according to Coin Facts, there were no 1910-D cents, and in any case the spacing seems wrong for an actual 1910 date. I personally suspect it's an 1940-D and someone messed with the date, but if that's the case, they did a pretty decent job of it.
Are there small letters VDB where Lincoln's shoulder cuts off (near the edge of the coin)? If there are (I can't see from the photo), this was definitely minted after 1910 (most likely, as I said, in 1940).

Fun coin anyway. If you have a Lincoln Cent album, you could put it in the hole for the 1914-D or 1922-plain

Altered 1940D...never seen one quite like it. As I would suspect it'd be illegal to sell on ebay, or at least permitted, it's still neat.

I agree, most likely a altered 1940 D.

FYI ... Lincoln cents should be posted in the modern section.

Definitely an altered 1940 D. No maybe or probably about it.

Now you need to find that 1910 VDB.

LOL, that's actually pretty cool for an altered 1940D!

As many have already said, clearly altered. However I wonder how long ago it was altered. There appears to be some patina in the area where the material was removed.
