Yes, and there could be quints as well. It's however many punches that they had to whack it to get it to the proper depth on the working die .. and with annealing of the die and hardening of the punch after each episode. It always took at least 2 whacks and I've seen this coin alot, so maybe there are others that even have 5.

Nice looking coin Devlec. I've got this one on my list but it's eluded me so far.
Cheers, Bill

I must commend you on the photography! Although I have a battered '59, and I take some interest in '59 varieties, I am not an expert in this field.

okiecoiner Quote: Yes, and there could be quints as well. This is the one and only "quintessential" coin in my collection. Out in 1984 in silver ,..gold plated ,..and nickel examples.. This is the tougher silver example.. Hope to see other quint examples here..

Oh, Devlec, what a little play on words. When I (and you) were growing up we used to hear a great deal about those kids. Now, I'll bet that there aren't 2 people out of 20 less than 40 years old who have evn heard of the name(s).

okiecoiner...You are probably right again..
..But so many of us here are "old farts" ..and therefore would probably remember the Dionne quints quite well.
