On the first example, the author mentions a greased-filled die as a "smudge," then goes on to post a picture without indicating where the error is located (the average reader would never notice the faint "T" in "TRUST."

On the second example, the author posts an image of the Wisconsin Leaf varieties, but doesn't show a regular Wisconsin quarter for comparison (the average reader won't know what leaf to look for).

On the third example, the author causes confusion by stating that coins are "printed," then causes more confusion by flatly stating that steel cents are worth $10.

On the fourth and fifth examples, the author makes more misleading blanket statements, writing that Franklin halves are worth $125 and silver Washington quarters are worth $65.

Then I cringed at the end of the article when I read: "SHARE these surprisingly valuable coins with your Facebook friends today!"

It's that considered an article? I saw a few scattered sentences a couple of pictures.

If steel cents are worth $10 apiece then I'm wealthy. I wonder if the author of the article would be interested in a deal. I'd go as low as $5 apiece if he purchases 1000 or more.

With everyone and their brother trying to be a journalist these days that site probably has a readership of a whole ten people. Maybe this poorly researched 'article' is purposely done to draw the scorn of the numismatic community and thus generate more views.

And tommorrow we will start seeing junk silver quarters on ebay for $65 and know where they got the idea that their junk silver was worth that price.
Rest in Peace

The purpose of this "article" was to get people to look at all the ads that surround it.

In the discussion section there are quite a number of posts refuting the claims in that article, which is good.

I couldn't help but notice all the coins mentioned were printed, not minted.

And this is the "research" sellers on ebay do to price their coins.
They read and research what they want to hear.

I like how he says that silver quarters were "printed" between 1932-1964. It looks like I better sell all my Franklin halves. I have about 50 of them.

The hundred or so comments at the bottom of the article are quite humorous. One poster asked about the value, of what I assume is a Walking Liberty half dollar, by writing:

Quote:
I have 50 cent piece 1945 on back has eagle front has sunshine man like snake and brush

People write stories about cars, planes, boats, oil paintings, old lamps, jars and on and on and on. Just don't pay attention to stories about coins. Ever look at all the books there are on coins? Lots and lots of them.
