I know I've been saying I would start CRHing for a while now, and I think it's finally happening. I found a BoA that will let me get coins if I have an account with them. My problem is that there are not a lot of banks or CUs nearby. My savings account is with a limited-service local CU that doesn't have coins or even cash, and there are very few places within a half hour drive of my house. Does anyone else have this problem, or is that just me?

Your CU doesn't deal in coins or cash? Odd. My CU's cater to many elderly folks that are typically leery of coin counters, so many take their coin to the front to cash with a teller.
There are banks galore in my town, one on every other corner. I'm not familiar with your situation, unless it's a very rural area.

It's a semi-rural area. I tried one other nearby CU and they confirmed that they have coins, but get this- they charge a $0.25 fee per roll.

so what you are saying is that if you went into your CU with cash, they would not take it? are you maybe mis-interpreting what the teller told you? if this is a financial institution they should accept cash deposits (whether that is coins or bills should not make a difference)

Sorry, I meant that they don't have a vault or anything, although there is an ATM. They don't have a lot of tellers, either, but do give good interest.

They probably don't have a vault in the normal sense, my wife, employed as a loan officer/teller was in charge of a CU's 'closet' that held a safe the size of a small refrigerator.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. Within twenty minutes of me are four branches of the same bank I have an account with and I always have access to a box and returning rolls. I know all the tellers and keep a friendly demeanor with them, they don't seem to mind the weekly box return / purchase.
I have one branch so well trained that my penny box and wrappers are on the counter waiting for me every Saturday morning. Only once did I have an issue with a teller who was nasty but in the end they shouldn't be refusing rolled pennies if you have an account.
Have you tried ordering a box from your bank? they should provide if you request. I've never heard of a fee per roll, that's just nonsense.

Well, I just got home after setting up an account with the BoA about 15 minutes from my house. I'm actually fairly impressed by their customer service, although it took almost an hour to set up the account. I left with $40 worth of nickels, and am about to start searching.
Update- I just opened my first roll, and the first coin I picked up is a really nice '57-D.

Well, I just finished 19 of the 20 rolls. Nothing too special, but I found a large number of pre-65's. Those were all modern-looking CWR's, but the last roll, which I saved for last, looks like this:
