Terrific find! Sounds like a liberated collector's coin to be in that condition. The two I found are very likely liberated coins from a collection. Both in high grade, but unfortunately, one has a couple small coin roller marks.
Congratulations on finding the hardest Jefferson for your set!

Ive looked at 286000 nickels since Jan 1 2014, and over 300,000 altogether. Ive found 2 50d. And you found 1 in pocket change.
The nickel is the only coin that you never get more than 1 of in change.... else you would get a dime.
Insane pocket find!

Quote: The nickel is the only coin that you never get more than 1 of in change.... else you would get a dime. Not true- two Half Cents in a cent, Two Cents in a Two Cent Piece, two dimes in a 20 cent piece, two quarter dollars in a half dollar, two half dollars in a dollar piece, two quarter eagles in a half eagle, two half eagles in an eagle, and two eagles in double eagle.

yah, Half Cents... thats what I buy my oats and turnips with. But again, incredible pocket find! According to my stats, only 1 out of 150,000 pockets would contain that haha.

Amazing find & congrats! I have to admit I am not surprised it in good shape though. So very many of these were put away back then that I would not be surprised to found out the majority are all in decent shape instead of circulated. They still cost about what they did when I was a kid collecting in the 70s. But its ALWAYS exciting to find a key!

I agree, the 2 I found were in very nice, barely circulated coins. You see that too with some of nickels... the 45D I found was a stunner. Never circulated.

It is amazing what pops up in front of your eyes CRH. Just about every box will have a roll where a 40s/50s specimen is adjacent to an 80s nickel and it's the finer specimen despite having 3 to 4 decades on the newer coin.

If you found a 1950 (p or d)in good condition, it must have been part of a dump. All of our 1950 nickels have been in worn condition.
