Buy it Nows on ebay tend to be in the $70-90 range for notes in this low of a grade. Auction style, buyers might take it up to around $60-75 depending on the eye appeal of the wear and tear. Even so, they are beautiful designs.

Unfortunately, these notes are very common (Teehee/Burke signature is widely seen) and with such wear it would probably only fetch $40 to $50 at most. These notes can be bought problem free for around $100. A dealer might offer $20 or so for this.

I'd grade it VG-NET -- edge damage/splits.

Yes, I would think $50 or so would be right. $75 max on an ebay auction with the right traffic.

No way any LCS would pay $50 for it in that condition, not around here anyway. I've seen stacks of these locally in much nicer shape. $25-$30 from a dealer at best....imo.

Quote:
One dollar silver certificates from the series of 1899 are the second most common one dollar silver certificate printed. Collectors call these one dollar bills "black eagles" because of the central eagle with spread wings. This is the only piece of United States currency that has two president on it. Lincoln and Grant are found on either side of the eagle.

1899 silver certificates have a blue seal, serial numbers, and a big blue one on the left side of the bill. These notes are very common and are valued almost purely on their condition.

The signature combination is probably Teehee - Burke.

The condition of the one in the photo is not what most collectors are looking for, it might even be considered rag condition. Probably worth $20 to $30. As was stated earlier in this thread, an ebay auction might get up to $50 from someone that doesn't know better.

amida17 - I meant possibly $50 retail at a LCS, not a buy price.
