Your coin appears to be a 1952 10 Yen, Bronze, Emperor Hirohito Showa Era Year 26. The obverse of the coins shows a Buddhist Temple,By#333;d#333;-in?) in Uji near Kyoto.

The date is 1952 but the Era Year is actually "Showa 27".

This coin is actually tougher to find in XF+ condition especially UNC condition. While it is similar to the current circulating coins, this has a reeded edge. It is theoretically possible to find one of this in circulation but I haven't found once in 1990s.

I have no idea where this coin came from! I have been going through a box of coins I had not looked through in decades. Most of the coins are 1940s or 1950s - none later and some in the 1920s and 1930s. This coin was one of them. They were all given to me by relatives during the 1950s. This coin has been sitting there for over 50 years, so that is why it is in virtually mint condition, I think. It has seen virtually no circulation! I am guessing that the value of this coin may be as much as $4 or $5?
