Paid 20 cents for it because it looked like it might be old but I don't know much outside of US coins. Anybody have any ideas? The reverse is completely smooth.

Thanks

Looks to be an old British Victoria coin, around 1860~
How big is it and how much does it weigh?

Thanks,
Diameter is about 28mm and weight is .30 oz.

I'm looking at photos on google, I don't see any with this type of bust and hanging ribbon in the hair.

If its almost the size of US quarter then Its more likely an old canadian quarter between 1858 and 1901. In that condition its only worth the melt value of around 2 bucks or less depending on how under weight it is.

about 1/9 of the world was under victoria rule at the time, and she was around for like 80 years. would need to see the other side to have a guess. if its kinda thick then it might be a 1/2 penny from england. if its pretty thin, then a 1 cent from canada or a pice from india.
