Hello, Everyone I need some help identifying a 1958 P Wheat back for "assurance" I pulled this one out from a bagged of about 250 Wheats mostly common dates (1940 above) few 1920's some 30's and 1 1958 P.

Thoughts and opinions will be helpful thanks.

Definitely not the one you are comparing too. Could we get close ups of the devices though?

Yeah, we are going to need better pics... But from the ones we have, I am fairly certain this is not a DDO.

Yeah, I thought it was little easy to be true the real deal oh well a friend of mine he knows more about Lincoln's warned me it wasn't DDO I just wanted to see if other enthusiast agreed.

This seals the deal no DDO oh well guess I'll take my buddy up on his offer in trading for 1943 (Silver) Mercury dime.

Some more shots for last person requested... 2nd photo is what I believe to be the common ( Mechanical Doubling) 1958 P in comparison I think mines look a lot better.. Hehe.

Thank you guys for giving the time..

Before you trade it off, did you notice anything different on Lincoln's hair? Maybe something from the E in WE?

Cwb,

Yes, on Lincoln's hair above forehead about a quarter of metal fragment peeled. If you look closer I don't know if you can see it in photo but Lincoln's hair up front it's flatter than the back for example like if you painted something 3 layers and layer peeled off is what I think seems to be what happened.

On the Logo "WE" yes now that you mentioned it I do see a little something going on but thats just on "WE" don't it have to be Doubling on full logo? I thought "IN GOD" was Doubled pretty strong too at first but I must admit I'm new a novice in Hobby after all 3 people have reviewed the coin 2 commented on the post and 1 who is my friend. So... I'm guessing I just may be seeing things haha but seriously the odds are against DDO I wished I had more knowledge may be there is something that I'm just not seeing...

CWB, if you think there might be something worth considering I can provide you more photo's I don't mind at all and I will appreciate very much.

Thank you

I don't think it is a doubled die. Just looking at photos, I'm not sure what is going on with it, a possible lamination, die chips, I can't tell.

cwb,

Thanks for the response. Yes, what you've said got me thinking... I will look further into the two areas.

I'm surprised all this time I've had this coin about 1 year now up to date. The thought of Lamination or Die Chip "error" never occurred to me.

Amazed, I'm well aware of the "errors" in speaking to have over looked this "I think wasnt because of ignorance" but limited knowledge and exp." the hobby is vast."

A humble lesson learned indeed...

Thank you.
