A little detective work made me buy this group of 1937 $1 banknotes. Can you also discover why I did? ebay # 371453753807

Nope, only thing I could think of would be a narrow panel but you can't see the marker on the notes below the first one.

I see that one of the notes is not signed by Gordon-Towers. I don't have my reference guide handy to see whose signature starts with "J".

Im guessing the signatures, however the fifth note from the bottom (showing the obverse) appears to have a 10th note behind (or stuck to it).

I determined that in the group was a narrow panel note. But was I surprised when the group came to my home and I discovered this note was the narrow panel!

Interesting, l collect paper money and l'm baffled as to what you see. I wouldn't of paid even the shipping amount for the lot, can't wait to find out what I'm missing.
Cheers, Bill

The JA prefix. Probably worth in the hundreds of dollars

HINT: There is more than 1 marker to determine if the note is a narrow panel

Nice snag. Would the other marker be the position of the signatures?

No, the position of the signatures was not the clue that I found. It's like night and day, once you see what to look for and you can see that the group had the narrow panel as one of the notes

The inside printing was shifted up to widen the signature panel but the border remained in the same position. Follow the banner running under the kings portrait the ends on the narrow panel notes nearly touches the border design with the wide panel there's a gap. These are worth more then I had remembered, great luck in it being the JA rather then the HA. Congratulations!
Cheers, Bill

So what would a note in this condition be worth around?

I believe the Towers sig is of Graham Ford Towers, not Gordon.
