Picked this up from a very out of focus photograph on an ebay auction recently for £6.00 I think I did pretty well but I'd value your thoughts on the grade. Also is that a big die crack across both edges under the mint mark area? Thanks

One way or another you did VERY well indeed. My only concern is that it might have been cleaned.

I think it has been cleaned, more noticeable on the Liberty side (sorry I'm not good on my obverses and reverses).

XF-Details? For what you paid, a very nice deal.

Devices are XF45. The washed out dull surfaces are indicative of a cleaning

Thanks for the input, what about value in its current state?

You got a good deal. This is a much better date with an estimated survival of just 600 pieces. The light cleaning is a potential problem as is the gouge at the bottom of the reverse that might be a strike through. I'd guess with XF Detail you've got a piece that's worth $60 to $80 USD retail.

The cleaning isn't too bad really. The reverse gouge is more bothersome but the price was great. I have an example of this date with the identical reverse die crack. Your coin would have been struck later on in the life of this die since the crack is obviously more pronounced. Looks like you picked up my coin's younger sister! Your coin is likely AU details since this issue apparently is seen with a pretty weak strike. My coin was graded MS-63 by PCGS in spite of the incomplete details over the high points.
