Take a look at this brand new Cuban 1 peso coin!
Obviously something was not working properly when they struck this coin!
It features three visible scars across its surface. I guess dies was cracked?

In yuor opinion, does this error make this coin more or less appealing/valuable?

PS: these are the newest circulating Cuban 1 peso coin, showing a new design of the bust of Jose Martí, hero of the Cuban independence.

Radial die crack.
There is a possibility that the die can shatter in cases like this.

It's appeal will be strictly a function of the collector.
Some don't like die cracks, others do.
I like 'em BUT won't pay extra to get 'em.

Thank you for your reply, guys.
Maybe the Cuban mint use of aluminium and brass for new coins have anything to do with this too?
Errors seem more frequent now. They were harder to find in old Cu-Ni or silver coins.

Hi, The metal type doesn't usually cause die cracking. My guess is that the quality control on the dies themselves is at fault.

I guess it depends on who finds it interesting and willing to pay extra.

Sometimes you can get interesting and massive die cracks like these two:
