hi all been missing for a long time I picked this little gem up on a facebook page .. a few weeks ago ....I have not seen another has anyone seen a split $2 I need only 1 more for a full set of split coins
need split $1 coin ......looking but cant find one example

Caused by impurities in the alloy strip that was rolled, thus spreading out the included impurities. The blanks can fall apart before they reach planchet stage, but this one has survived the coining press as well.

A single drop of oil falling on the strip during the rolling process is enough to cause many laminate blank errors to be stamped from the strip.

The RAM more commonly produced the these sorts of errors in 20 cent and 10 coins during the early years of Australian decimal currency.

You said you found it on a facebook page- does that mean it was found by someone who didn't know the value?

NUMISMA ITS WORTH WHAT ITS WORTH what do you value it at ...........I paid a good price for it .........but I would have piad a lot more as ts what I wanted and needed to finish a set
