Hi there, I'm not a coin collector but I came across an old coin which I have had a while now. I decided to look into it and see what I can find out about it. It's very hard to see what's written or what is on it, I haven't cleaned it and dare not to just incase I damage it. Hopefully the pic will upload fine, any help in identifying it or point in the right direction will be great. Thanks *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Looks like an ancient coin, and looks older than (imperial) Roman. Hopefully the mods can direct this one over to the Ancients forum.
Any chance you can make out enough of the inscription to post on here? Looks like it might be Greek.
Oh and welcome to the forum!

Could be an Indo-Scythian drachm of Azes II...maybe.

Cheers for the replies, I do some Google stuff Bob L see if I can match anything. Numisma I found it nearly 15 years ago Maybe more, found it while I was digging at work stuck cleaned what I could with a soft brush kept it in a container. Only ever found 2 old things, that coin and an old empty packet of WW2 Navy Player cigarette packet.

Thanks for the welcome Finn, yeah I'm going to borrow a really good magnifying glass see what I can see. I will post measurements when I find a ruler only had a lighter nearby. Hopefully I will find out the history of the coin. Cheers

Those look very similar to the coin in question.

to the community I agree it's Azes. Until recently it was believe that Azes I and Azes II were to different rulers. Now it's believed that they are one in the same. Here is an Azes I tetradrachm from my collection. Obverse legend in Greek: BASLIEWS BASILEWN MEGALOU AZOU (Great King of Kings Azes) Reverse legend in Karosthi: MAHARAJASA RAJARAJASA MAHATASA AYASA

After looking at coins from Azes era it certainly has very similar features. Need to clean the coin up a bit I think it's hard to read anything, the horse on it certainly has the right lines. Albert I agree I thought it was going to be a Roman coin being that it was in the UK and it wasn't like it was dug deep. I think it was more then likely dropped a long time ago it was found near Hayes / Southall which is a multi culture community. I will put better pics after I clean it up best I can. I understand distilled water is good? Don't want to damage it
