I am a cashier, and I am new to this forum. Been collecting coins for about 4 years now. I recently came across this 1958 D Wheat penny, and I think it's an error coin. I will upload some photos. If you look at The "T" in LIBERTY, it looks like an "I" can someone give me some info on this?

This can be cause by a slight amount of grease in the die on the "T" or by coin contact pushing the device to the right. A better shot of that area might be helpful. But it looks like the up right is leaning to the right? If so it may be PSD. (Post Strike Damage)

Yeah, it looks like it's leaning, but if the center side of the T-bar got knocked off it must have happened some time ago. Better close-up photos would help.

That said, how about a closer shot of the date: is the top of the "8" filled with metal or is it the verdigris?

The first image rotated 90 degrees helped me to see it better.

Not really. Just damage. But it is a Wheat cent. I save all of them anyway. But no premium for this.

The US Modern Variety and Error Coins forum, which is where this post now resides after I moved it. Never worry, we will will always try to get posts to the right place for the most help. There is nothing more to do on your part.

This Filled number 8 in the date could be that the die chipped and the area inside is filled. This in not uncommon on top part of the 8 in 1958 and the 9 also.

Even though the coin is damaged, a wheatie is always a nice circulation find.
