I'm going through some world coins trying to figure out what I have, and is it worth keeping in the main collection,or just put them into My 'it's nice to have, but not worth much pile'.
I really don't know much at all about Canadian coinage and was hoping that you all might help.My Dad had many Canadian coins but I'll only list the ones He had in 2x2's.The rest are in a sandwich baggie and I don't know when I'll make it through all them.
Anyhow, here is what's in the 2x2's.Does any of these need a closer look?
1928-5c
1952-25c
1953-Dollar
2-1968-Dollar
1971-British Columbia Dollar P/L Y-67
1972-Dollar P/L Y-580
1974-Winnipeg Dollar P/L Y-100
1975-Dollar P/L Y-580
1977-Dollar P/L T-2 detached jewel
1982-Constitution Dollar BU Y-115
2-1982-Dollar BU
And there is this one.I don't even know what you call it.
1977-?

The coin pictured is a Great Britain 1977 25 new pence commemorating the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. I should know because I have one on my desk.

The 52 25 cent has a high relief and low relief design. the high relief has a small premium. the way to tell is that the A's of GRATIA point to denticles.

The 53 dollar has several versions, all around the same value: NSF "No shoulder fold", SF "shoulder fold" and SF SWL "shoulder fold - short water lines"

The 82 constitution dollars have a couple, very rare/valuable varieties including a thin planchet and a coin alignment version.

Good luck hunting and post pictures!

1952-25c
1953-Dollar

These two are silver 80%.
I would look for Short Water Lines for the 1953 Dollar on the Reverse
Shoulder Strap or No Shoulder Strap on the Obverse.
There are 9 Reverse varieties and 3 Obverse Varieties of the No Shoulder Fold 1953 Type Dollar
There are 3 Reverse varieties and two Obverse varieties of the 1953 Shoulder Fold Type Dollar
1953 was the first appearance of QEII on our coinage.

Value depends on condition.
1928 5 Cents Sold on ebay F12 =$2.75, MS-65 $600.
Two different dollars were made for 1971 BC Centennial - one 50% Silver, one Nickel.

You can look all of these up on;

Have fun, great to have some inherited coins to look through.

Atlas is right about the 1977, it is commonly referred to as a "jubilee crown" produced in large numbers and virtually worthless even in the condition that yours is in (better than most)

The Canadian stuff I am not too knowledgeable but I am keeping my eyes open and spying on the Canadian section to see what I can pick up :P
