Quote: Roger no one cares about the reverse these days Ahh.... you subscribe to the ICCS school of grading I presume ... for me, every coin has two sides.

For me 3 sides to a coin ,you cannot forget the EDGE. Seriously though most of the grading services since the old ANACS photo certs ,hardly even give the reverse a second or two glance. It is all about the obverse.

It is a tough one to grade, looking at these other examples of graded coins this looks about right. I don't know if 1925 is treated differently, but all of these are likely not over graded. These are quick pulls from ebayNGC VF30 NGC VF35 ICCS EF40 PCGS AU50 - Certified NGC AU55 PCGS AU55 - Gold Shield

Every one of those US TPG ARE over graded . I agree with the ICCS EF 40 coin. The US ones in order top to bottom Fine 15, VF 20, then the ICCS , then VF 30, EF 40, last one needs a better pix but appears EF. Just my thoughts.

I pretty much agree with what pacificoin posted; but I am confused as the the actual grade of the original coin posted in this thread. If it graded EF then I'll send mine to that company.

I am looking forward to getting the coin in hand, it will be interesting to see if it differs from the pictures.
I am also interested in learning more about weak strikes, does anyone have any recommended resources. I have looked at a few sites, but have yet to see a good representation of the same coin (eg. weak, med, full, etc...) it always seems to be examples of different years/coins. A nice side by side would be interesting to see.
