I recently bought this coin it has what appears to be a die break. My question is if this is a die break, how does it affect how the grade is given? Any help would be great. Here is a picture, the coin is an 1867 A Prussia 3 Pfennig, ngc ms 65 RB. The picture in question is the second one.

I'm not an expert in foreign coins (I'm from the US), but I can tell you it shouldn't affect the grade. Many times, die breaks are desirable. Usually just an interesting difference. Personally, I don't mind die cracks. Most of the time they aren't a plus or a minus. nice coin!

Die crack won't affect the price.
Pristine coin, 148 years old!
Needs to be retained in airtight storage.
Slab OK.

IF you had 4 different MS 65 coins, they very well could sell for 4 different prices. Marketability is not always determined by the grade. Die cracks, planchet flaws, toning, clashing, die state and strength of strike don't always affect grade.

Great answer above. Far too much subjectiveness, depends on when you list it and who sees it and how many bidders and all of the other criteria above too.

Thanks for the responses. I wasn't worried so much about the value in this case, as I liked the coin, but more in if a die break would affect the grade a coin may receive.

That's a very liberal grade. I don't like the spots. It is minty mates, but not conservatuve euro grading.
