Where-Is-The-Scratch-On-This-1880-Morgan?
NGC # 3231505-021

It grades UNC Details Obv Scratch.
Not my coin, but I am curious as to what aspect of the coin NGC picked up on.

Maybe it's the ding behind the eye?
What grade had it not had the scratch?

Ding behind the eye is my guess. Might be worth a crack and resub, looks at least 65.

I see nothing noteworthy - perhaps something is visible at another angle?

could it be above the second star on the left? doesn't look like a scratch to me, but just a couple of dings

I don't think this is a details-worthy coin unless there's a scratch visible at a different angle, like fenton suggested. I think a resub would earn the coin a numerical grade.

I'm not seeing much that I'd consider a scratch either ...
My guess is that it's probably one that's almost invisible from one angel yet very noticeable from another ...
If this is a coin listed on ebay then chances are NGC has got it right and the seller has just used the best photo ( one with scratch less visible ) to get this coin sold ...
I like the coin but I wouldn't buy it with hopes that NGC has labeled it as something it isn't ...

I created a reverse image of OP's coin, and then equalized the contrast. After applying a balance filter, I was able to see the following areas on the coin, which I circled in yellow, which may be what NGC is seeing, especially the one in the hair below the cotton bolls extending radially towards the northeast.

Just a guess. Here is my "flipped" picture.

This can be a useful way to see things that are hidden by toning, and also to see things that the camera does not see.
