A bit of a better date, but that's about the only thing with regard to this specimen that might be termed "better"....

FR-02. Liberty in the headband is still there and the date and mintmark is pretty full. Might even be an AG-03
Rest in Peace

Might have shot at PR1, but the coloration on the obverse is rather unsightly regardless of wear for the grade IMO.

Find a lumber jack and let him pocket that one with a handful of copper cents for a couple months and poof! P01.

Remarkable how much wear some of these got - I've never encountered anything like that in circulation with any modern issue

I probably will pocket this for a time, if only to try and subdue the unsightly obverse toning that's been mentioned.

Well, this is sort of embarrassing. I rubbed my thumb across the obverse and it came up blackened, the way my fingers tend to get when rooting through bargain bins. What I was taking as toning was just grunge of some sort. After less than a minute, my thumb was really black and the coin looked a whole lot less "funky". I might still carry it for a week or so, as certainly I have no intent of dipping or actually cleaning it.
