Are these split serifs or die damage? I see split serifs on the first T and S in trust. The 2nd T looks more like die damage.

The date also has a couple of oddities. There is extra metal on the top of the diagonial bar of 4. Same extra metal shows on horizontial bar of 2.

Yes, and technically die doubling, these are one of the most common ones that exist. If you look at 100 War Nickels of any date, probably 30% to 40%, if not more will exhibit this. This was a master die issue for years on Jeffersons and is one of the most common doubled dies known. It unfortunately carries no premium at all.

It is though, a good example of what split serifs are.

On the 2, it is coincidental Machine Doubling. It has nothing to do with the split serifs.
