ok, I think it's time to get cracking. mint cracking that is!

I've been stockpiling mint sets for most of this year. I think it is about time to start cracking. I am trying to collect at least 2 sets per year and it is nearing completion.

This way I will have complete Dansco albums using only mint & proof coins. :)
I'm using Whitman folders for my circulation finds.

The later year's are proving hard to find cheap. Guess I have to wait a few years for the prices to drop.

dansco's albums - check
mint sets - 1964-2015 : missing 69,70,07,10-15
proof sets - 1964-2015 : missing 13-15
silver proof sets - 1964,1976,1992-2015 : missing 92,00,05,07-15
ike silver proof - all

Here's most my the stash for now.. Missing a tub or two in the pictures..

Looks like I have some work this holiday.

Have fun!

For a moment looking at the pictures I thought this was another GR58 thread... but lo and behold it isn't! Have fun! I love filling holes in an album and you have quite the job ahead of you! :D

You are going to have fun, that is for sure!

That is exactly what I did...I slowly bought a complete set of mint and proof starting 1964 and ending with the newest (I think it was 2012 or 2013 when I did all my cracking) and when the time came, it was GREAT.

All my Danscos have silver and clad proofs, as well as the bu p & d all from mint and proof sets.

I use Danscos for my circulated stuff too when it is silver full sets, such as Walking Liberty half or Franklin half, but I buy the danscos used on ebay if I am going to put circulated coins into them.

I'm jealous! I want to buy another full set just so I can crack again-- but don't need to sets of Dansco modern coins. Oh well!

Have a great time!

Nice looking group of coins ... And albums.

It is a lot of fun filling those albums from sets, and a lot of work.

I spent about a hour doing the two album State Quarter set last weekend.

I vacuum the albums, at every step. There seems to be a lot of paper
dust. I also use white gloves to put all those coins into the empty holes.

My guess is you will really like how all those bright coins will look in the
albums.

I've debated a bit on the "crack" or "not to crack", but crack is addictive!

I figured I wanted at least one set of modern Dansco's with mint shape coins. Then the hoarding OCD kicks in a bit on having things in sets. Mixing circulated/mint sets just didn't vibe well. Then why buy 1 when you can buy 10 or 50. And then..... It never ends.

Hoping to start cracking in Dec. One month to fill the gaps. To bad there are some decent prices on silver tomorrow.

GR58 - Your pictures have inspired my OCD. I blame you. Now I have to add IKE's to my list.

Excellent!

I only cracked proof sets, so most of the circulation coins came from circulation (there are some exceptions). I do appreciate your approach though. If I had to start over I would use mint sets as well.
