1727 Zeeland (Netherlands, Dutch Republic) 2 Stuivers

This type was struck without change from 1701-93 and is priced in WCPG as a common date.
Holland was the largest and wealthiest part of the United Provinces, now the kingdom of the Netherlands.
Recorded mintage: 5,845,049 for 1725-27.
Specification: 1.360 g, .583 fine silver, .030 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM# 59.

These were made in 'industrial' quantities, and used widely throughout the Dutch Colonies at the time. I have a complete set of the homeland provincial types, in about this condition. The 2 stuivers that I have most probably circulated throughout Batavia, to the north of Australia.

All of mine came from dealers' junk boxes over a period of years. Very satisfying to complete such a set of 200 + year old silver coins, for not too much money.

Nice coin, but it has no connection to New York. The Dutch had been gone for the New York area for 40 years by the time that coin was struck
