It looks more like MD machine damage but die does not look too worn

Okay yes, I can see the difference in the doubling on the words.


So when the letters look as if they have slid down the planchet it is worn die.

The side to side double look comes from the Machine Doubling.

Sorry, I am tying to learn how to tell the difference. You guys are so good at looking at a coin and knowing what it is. So from what I am learning, this coin was punched with a worn die.

the machine damage cuts into the shape of the letters making the general shape or outline of each letter or design smaller and by going into that shape leaving a flat doubled shape coming out. If that makes sense...

Die Deterioration on the raised devices. (Always shows on devices toward the rim direction.

Incuse devices (EPU) is showing Machine damage from very slight die movement during the strike. ( Die Deterioration on incuse devices, mean they are raised on the die. so Die Deterioration would reduce the size of the incuse devices. machine damage {doubling} would enlarge an incuse device)
