XF details. WAY too much detail left in the headband and the lines in the shield on the reverse.

To be frank, you paid way too much for this, which is nearly a cull. If you need a hole-filler, then pay a hole-filler price.

There's obvious damage, there's also some outstanding details which, in my book makes it a long way from a cull. It's a nice coin. I'd be happy to have it in my folder. Many of us collect for the history represented by the year and mint. Others, only want higher end coins and they are looking more at the investment or value (or perceived value). There are also those that straddle both sides of the fence. Slamnbass - Your coin looks a lot like those in my IHC collection (actually better than some). AS to whether you paid too much, that's a question only you can answer. It's probably a VF, even with the rim damage. One thing it isn't - it isn't a cull . Nice to meet another "history - keeper." Jack

Pay a hole filler price? Show me what a 10-15$ 1861 indian head is gonna look like? This is a hole filler price for me on a 1861-im happy with it-show me a much better looking one for your hole filler price.

with Slamnbass! I just checked on ebay and any 1861 IHC showing even partial letters of "Liberty", are in the $40 - $60 range. I need the same coin and I also need all three of the '64s. Slamnbass, maybe we should trade our dupes. I've got several of 70s, 80s, 90s, and 1900s. PM me if you're interested. Jack
