Stopped by my favorite Capped Bust seller's store and found this large-diameter CBQ up for grabs as a new listing. This 1825/4/2 CBQ is pretty well worn but she's got a certain color to her surfaces that I enjoy looking at. This is Browning-2, the most common of the 3 varieties for 1825. Reverse is rotated approx. 45 degrees CW. PCGS holder. Your grade opinion? May have gotten a pass on the cleaning and a G06 grade. Detail is more inline with a VG.

It should be a G-6 cleaned.

Cleaned capped bust coinage outnumbers non-cleaned bust coinage by a ridiculously large amount. As a result, TPG's tend to be quite a bit more relaxed when it comes to grading Capped Bust coins, preferring instead to net the coin down a grade point or more depending on how bad the cleaning is, and if it was abrasive or not.

I grade the coin G6. A light cleaning cannot be excluded. The coin has a very nice overall appearance. Love the type. Yes, this is definitely a tough issue to find unmolested. My example has also been dipped, fortunately not offensively.

Good discussion on this. I'll say G-06 without a qualification. Very attractive.

I agree with the G-6 grade...highly doubt it received any type of details. Nice quarter...One like this is on my list!

VG-08. Has definitely been cleaned in the past.

PCGS G-06. I think it's probably closer to VG but was netted down slightly.
