Poll Question
So a few weeks ago, I conversed with a pair of coin dealers that turned out to be geniuses! One had been an electrical engineer for about 45 years, and the other was a veterinarian! So it had me wondering how many coin collectors (and dealers) are math and science nerds...
So would you consider yourself associated with STEM? (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Whoaaaah! Coin collecting is a genius hobby! (At least for those who really get into it, like me).

I think in the original book, Aladdin was the "genius" of the lamp, not the "genie".....but I digress. No genius here, but I do have a BS degree heavy in calculus

Senior at high school who has developed projects in software, microcontroller design and circuits. I have 3 peer-reviewed publications in the subjects of physics, energy and embedded systems (part of electrical engineering).
I see on PopSci and Science News magazines, there are a ton of ads for coins (although most of these are pretty overpriced). I don't know if coin ads pervade all magazines or are just targeted at science-oriented people.
What I like about this forum is that everyone here is so logical and very critical.
Ask any other forum this question, and you may very well get a different response.

I know of highly professional nerds who are just humble coin collectors. I have also met a few none-too-bright characters who know a lot about numismatics.
School students and old pensioners as well.
All of them are good blokes in their own way.
I couldn't answer the question because from my experience, coin collecting / numismatics is so universal.
I have an engineering background myself.
