What grade do you think this coin is, and why? My estimate is F-15. Would be good to hear your thoughts.

A scarce coin, as I am sure you know.
It has the design details of a F12 coin on the obverse, and F15 or slightly better on the reverse. This is a higher than average details grade for this variety. It is a Cohen C-2 variety, with a rarity rating of 3.
For purposes of valuation, however, you have to take into account any flaws the coin may have. In this case the reverse shows a somewhat rough and granular surface, which fortunately is less pronounced on the obverse. All in all I would value the coin as a VG8 to VG10.

I'd be at a VG-10 overall, I think. It is better than that on the reverse. Definitely had an old cleaning to remove corrosion that has retoned nicely. Environmental damage for details, I'm sure. But all said a very presentable and yummy coin.

It looks like it has some environmental damage, which is especially prominent on the reverse.

EAC VF20 but has rough surfaces and a minor rim ding at 5 oclock, so I would net grade it to VG10 for the fore mentioned issues. This variety was mostly struck on defective planchets .

F15 details. Corroded. Cleaned. Looks like someone took a brush across the obverse. Still a nicely detailed coin

My opinion is F-15. The reverse still has prominent features despite field issues & if the obverse was in similar condition it would be a VF-20.

I tend to agree with the majority. It has fine details. Net, VG-10. A nice coin.

The coin is actually an 1802/0 (Cohen 2, reverse of '02), R3 - A very nice coin and valuable. The corrosion makes the overdate hard to see.
VF20 sharpness, net VG8. The scratches are more detrimental than the planchet flaws, in my opinion. But the corrosion is inconveniently located.

I didn't even see the scratches. That changes my grade. VF20 sharpness, net VG6 or 8.

Problems for sure but I like it. VF-20 details, obverse scratches and corrosion on the reverse. EAC, net grade: VG scratches / corrosion.
