hello CCF

been transfering my cents from pvc infested coinholders into 2x2 selfadhesive flips, and creating a need list while at it

so I got quite a few spares and doubles.

and I have 2 beautyfull raw coins, one is toned and one is not
i'd love to keep both but I'm not going that way
so my question is actually what do you as a numismaticus prefer to keep, you can pick one out of these 2

If it were me, I'd keep the bright one. Not because the other one is toned but because it has a large bag mark in the field to the left of the portrait. As far as the choice between toned or untoned, I think it is a matter of taste. A lot of collectors like nicely toned coins (and your cent has a very nice tone). Others prefer a more original look.

Probably. But I'm no expert on this matter, and there are plenty of people who love toned coins. I'd hate for anybody to make an important decision based solely on my answer! And really, the real question is which one of them do you like? After all, you're the one who is going to add it to your collection!

i personally prefer the colors but I'm trying to get to know more about how to grade US coins just tend to phrase my questions bad because of my bad english, so more opinions would indeed be nicer
like when is a coin considered MSRD ..Or better yet is one of these RD (not counting the bagmark)

The second is, but it's fairly common to see red cents from this era. I would personally keep the first one since it's rather uncommon to see such a nicely toned Lincoln.

Why not keep both? I guess I'll never understand why so many collectors are dead-set on just keeping one example of a given year/mint.

No brainer for me, I'd keep that beautiful toned example. These are common in MS red, I find often find examples nicer than the one you posted in red. It's FAR harder to find a nicely toned 83D like you have than to find a red one.

thank you for the opinions
I'm just going to keep the untoned one...as badtothebone said to much marks on the toned one.
however I have more of these toned coins and if they show less marks I will def keep those.
