The word LIBERTY is cut off on the edge. I welcome your feedback. :)

It's impossible to tell without seeing both sides of the entire coin.
If the reverse is normal then I would say you might have a slightly MAD coin. It would help to see the entire coin.

Looks like misaligned die, not off center. Thanks. Doug.

I agree, a misaligned die. Since it actually cuts into some of the motto I would definitely consider this a keeper.

Newbie here - Just to see if I have understood your responses. MAD is when it is not printed in the correct position on the coin and because it cuts off part of the devices.
Off Center then - means that the all of the devices are there but not printed where it should be?
Thanks

A misaligned die will affect only one side of the coin. The premium value increases for that error if the devices are cut off. Generally, the more misalinged the greater the value. A coin can be MAD and still retain all of its devices but those are very common and gererally have no premium. You will find that a lot of dimes have a rim that is uneven; that is, one portion of the dime will have a thicker rim. Most of us consider that normal and those are not considered error coins even though they are not quite right. Here is some info. about off-center strikes. http://www.error-ref.com/?s=off-cen...+strikeNote that both sides of the coin are affected.

On these you can see the weakness on the reverse because of the hammer die misalignment: I can't see the weakness on the reverse on this one. (maybe the image)

I recently ran across an '87 missing nearly the entire IGWT, with a screamin railroad rim. Just need to hunt up a camera.

Thanks all for the insight and information! Coop, if you look above BUS in PLURIBUS and UNUM, there is a thin light area I think. It looks like a faint rim line with the metal being lighter in color.
