I bought $130 of Brinks rolls today, with favorable results.

20 or so common old jeffersons, a 1942D, 1946S, and 1944D (one of the harder to find War Nickels as I understand)

Best of all was a 1930 indian head in about G-4. After fighting in many a battle these past 80 years, this brave warrior has certainly earned a comfortable retirement in my collection!

Hi all!

I have a posting up about this question, and haven't got any responses. This seems to be the place to ask. I am roll searching a box of nickels right now.

I found a 1975D nickel with the D right next to the 5. As in right beside it. Is this anything? I can post a picture if need be either tonight or in the morning. It's getting late and I'm about to go cross-eyed.

Thanks for any help!

Sure have seen a lot of buzz this week about hoarding nickles. It sure seems like the word is getting out. I hope that does not make it harder for me to get nickles .

coppernickeldaddy how many 42d and 46s did you find trough your search ?

im asking you because I found all the key dates and almost all semi key dates(many in U-AU)
but I'm having problems to find any 46S or 42D until the point I gave up and decide since I dont need no more any keydates to finish my album I ll just trade my doubles keydates for the ones I need .

to complete my jeff nickel album I'm missing 1942d,1942s,1943d,1944s,1946s,1949s and 1951s

How much would you pay to buy/sell pre 1960 nickels? The odds are there are zero rare dates but out of 1000 nickels I found a 38D, a 39S, and 4 War Nickels including a 44S. There were a bunch of fairly rare dates like 48S, 49S, 51S.

I paid 8 cents a nickel? Is that too much?

Here is a picture of a 1975D that I found yesterday. Notice the placement of the mint mark? Is this anything to get excited about?

Jaymon,it is a bit unususal but mintmarks were hand punched in those years so they can be off. I must admit though,I have never seen a nickel with the mintmark that far away from"normal" location.

Same here. This is the first for me, but I haven't done much roll searching for Nickels. I'm wondering if it's anything special. I'm sure I'll keep it anyway. It would just be nice to hear some input on it.

Nothing big, as I've found older, but it's the oldest one in the best shape I've found so far. It's the little things that make me happy lol.
Sorry for the bad pictures, I had to take them using my Iphone since my friend borrowed all my lenses.
