1 box of nickels. No silver. Best I got was a 1947-D which was a hole filler for my little set I'm making from circulation, but its in rough shape. Also found a 1947-S but overall not much to speak of.

Been away for a bit so I grabbed 3 boxes for some fun. Not counting any full new boxes these would be boxes 15-17. The first box I opened had all the excitement but I wasn't disappointed with any of the boxes. Box 15 had 38D, 42S and 45P hole fillers and added a 39S and a 50. 15 total pre-60 and 2 Canadians 1986, 2000 Box 16 also had 42S and 45P silvers but thanks to the first box weren't hole fillers. 13 pre-60 1 Canadian 1986 Box 17 Had 20 pre-60 coins but none too exciting other than 43S 45S. 1 1990 Canadian. So two silvers per box is nothing to complain about and brings my total to 24/17. Here's a couple pics of the good finds.

Excellent! I found a '38 and a '39 today as well, but they had no mint marks on them. I did find my first ever Buffalo from circulation today, too! It is a 1919 plain. Made my day!

the "die clash" posted earlier is not a die clash. more likely a flipover double strike.

Here is my 7,500 roll update:
At this point, I lack the following to complete a Jefferson set 1938 - 2011:
1938-S, 1939-D, 1944-S, 1950-D. I found several 2011-P examples recently.
My five least common finds:
1939-S 3 45-D T2 3 1955-P 4 1938-D 5 1949-S 5
My five most common finds:
1941-P 145 1940-P 150 1954-D 153 1957-D 186 1958-D 282
Oddly enough, I have now found eight 1943-D issues, but no 1944-S.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

Nice finds ! You guys are finding a lot of 39S and 43D what is rare in my area. My girlfriend found 10 War Nickels this week and we still missing the 43D on the album also the 42d the one I think it ll be the last coin to fill our album ! 3 holes left 42d,43D and 46S .

Well I'm about 2/3 of the way through my first ever box of nickels. So far I've gotten enough to almost get a complete 1960-2011 P&D set. Still need a 2009P and 2011 P&D (the box could have been sitting for a while at the bank). A few here and there from the 50's but not much and they're pretty beat up.
My oldest find so far is a '41 (can't recall if it's P or D - doing this off of memory). And I have about 10-15 S mint marks from 1968-1970.
No silver yet but there are still some rolls left!
Fun! Overall I like nickel searching better than dime searching.

Do you all have better luck with bank or customer wrapped rolls?

Honestly I have never tried CWR but I really would like to. I figure you get good stuff anyway(like you do with the bank boxes) but also the chance of getting a rolled collection. I really need to try them.

Had ten rolls tonight, found a few hole fillers for the 7113 and a nice surprise or two. When I start, I open each end of the rolls and take a sneak peak. Tonight I found one roll with a 1953 on one end and a 1958 on the other. I also had a roll with a 1941 on one end and a 1947 on the other, I put those two rolls aside to open last. The first 8 rolls didn't have much, a couple S mints and a 1953d, there was a whole mess of early 1960's in those rolls as well, lot's of 1960/61/62/63 and 64. One was a full roll of mixed 1960's dates. From the first 8 rolls 2~ 1969s 1~ 1970s 1~ 1953d Now on to the other two rolls, I opened the one with the 1953 and 1958 first. It was a full roll of mixed 1950 dates, here are the results. 1~1952 2~ 1952d 2~ 1953 3~ 1953d 2~ 1954 4~ 1954d 1~ 1955d 1~ 1956 2~ 1956d 2~ 1957 11~ 1958d 1~ 1959 8~ 1959d The second was a full roll of mixed 1940 dates, had my hopes up when all those 40's started rolling out but no War Nickels . Here's the results. 2~ 1940 2~ 1940d 10~ 1941 2~ 1941s 10~ 1946 4~ 1947 5~ 1948 3~ 1949 2~ 1949d There was also an extra nickel in this roll, kind of looks like a 1946 but it's hard to make out.

Fun! Overall I like nickel searching better than dime searching. Finished up the box last night and ended up finding a 44-D and a gorgeous, nearly flawless 2009 Canadian nickel. I'm ready to go get my next $100 box after that! Ah, it's the simple joys...

Yes, it is the simple joys. Box 27 down no silver 26/27 for silver no buffs no V's no errors Well, what DID I find? My first proof! Oh yeah! 1957! Couldnt believe it when it popped out of the roll, but I'm going to have it verified tomorrow. That made up for no silver.

Someone tell me I hallucinated that 1914D buffalo one page back. That's got to be the best nickel roll find anyone's made around here.
