googoo, put that corroded wheat in some vinegar for 24 hrs, should take much of the corrosion off and you might be able to see a date.

I don' know how much it will help, the back is almost completely worn flat, you can only tell where the wheat stalks were and its pitted a bit too. I guess it is worth a shot though. Not like I can damage it any more hah

We did another box tonight. Our keepers were three Buffalo nickels, all so bad they had to go straight to the white vinegar bath. |

I just found another 1950 last night. That's three in the last three boxes after having found none in the first 30 or so. Strange. Also found my 13th 2004-P DDO after a long drought. Too bad about 11 of them are real dogs and the remainder are something like runners-up in the terrier group at Westminster. |

Captainfwiffo, hang onto those 1950's. If you ever attend coin shows - look around and I bet you won't be able to find a 1950 nickel for sale! Plenty of 1950-D's on sale but never any 1950 plains. I've asked the dealers why this is, but can get no straight answers!

Just finished the biggest anti-climax box so far. First two rolls had a '42-P War Nickel and a nice '82-S proof. Then just when I thought I was on a roll.... nothing. A few coins from the mid '50s, and three from the most common 40s dates. |

finn235, that's 2 more War Nickels that I usually find in my boxes! I think I'm 8 boxes for zero War Nickels - not sure what gives. |

Finn, My last box was quite the opposite. I was 3/4 of the way through and had found only 7 pre-60 nickels! In the last quarter-box it yielded three silver, one dateless buffalo, and 13 more pre-60's! Talk about a climax box...

box 17: one silver (1943-P), one hole filler (1941-S), one 2000-P misaligned die (just posted in error forum), and a stunning 1956-D (just posted in grading forum).
oh yeah, a total of 33 pre 1960.

The 1970 Bermuda nickel is a fine looking coin...very elegant.
